PS4 Awesomenauts to ‘Assemble!’ on Early March

It may not have arrived during the Playstation 4 launch but it still exists! The PS4 version of Awesomenauts – now under the name of Awesomenauts Assemble! – will be available to buy on 4th March 2014 (or 5th March for European Owners) for $9.99 / EUR 9.99 (UK price TBC).

The ‘Assemble!’ version of this game will contain every ‘awesome’ bit from the original, which came out for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012. It’s a retro-styled MOBA, like League of Legends and DOTA 2, which combines Team-based objectives with fast-paced side-scrolling shooting gameplay.

Assemble! will feature all the fixes, upgrades and new content from the latest patch for the Steam version. As a result, the game will contain 15 characters and 4 maps to choose from. It will also have console-exclusive features, including split-screen gameplay and improved controls.

Ronimo Games originally intended to release Awesomenauts for the PS4 at around launch time, before they faced difficulties in implementing the game over to the system. But they managed  to overcome those issues and confirmed its release date, with the help from Abstraction Games, who were porting it over to the PS4.

Starstorm DLC

Ronimo Games recently completed a Kickstarter campaign for ‘Awesomenauts Starstorm’, the forthcoming expansion pack that adds in over three new characters, new modes and some extra maps. However, there was a question on whenever the PS4 version will feature content from Starstorm.

We spoke to Ronimo Games and said that “the Starstorm content won’t be releasing on PS4 immediately, but we intend to release that at a later point in time.” This means that Starstorm will soon arrive for Awesomenauts Assemble! as DLC. “It’s still in Early Access on Steam, so we have some more work to do before we can actually release it on console.” he added.

Assemble! will contain all the trimmings from Starstorm DLC, but will lack a few features like Global Chat and Spectator mode. But it will be provided with new music and twin-stick controller support.
